Our School (back)
Our school is a Voluntary Aided Catholic School and as such promotes the teachings of the Catholic Faith.
Within our aims for spiritual development we foster in our children a tolerance and respect for the beliefs and traditions of other faiths. Moral and school issues are dealt with in the context of the school mission statement ‘mutual respect, love and understanding’. The teachings of Jesus are constantly brought before the children, and he is always used as the model for our relationships with others and our attitude towards them. The building of self-esteem and positive attitudes towards self and others is fostered.
Catechists from the parish prepare children for First Sacraments.
The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales set out the curriculum to be taught in R.E. Our school follows the ‘Here I Am’ syllabus as recommended by the Diocese of Leeds. All pupils are encouraged to follow this part of the curriculum.
Assemblies are held daily. Services are held in school according to pre-planned themes. Class Masses and Liturgies are held in school and also in Church on Holy Days of Obligation. Parents are welcome to attend services, assemblies and Mass.
